…where thoughts unleashed…

Once a Paradise

In a world where we live in, change is quite inevitable. Once this ever-changing world was primitive, now booming with high technologies. Once a serene place to live in, now a living chaos of intensified modernization. And that is because of our thirst for more knowledge. A knowledge that sometimes brings us to the world of discontentment.

Our Divine Creator provided us a shelter called Earth. An earth dense in lushness, with vast expanse of blue waters, with an azure sky adorned with soft cottony clouds, a good soil enriched with countless nutrients, soaring peaks, wild and domestic creatures to enliven up the surroundings with distinct sounds. He gave us the day to brighten up our world and a night shining with twinkling stars and a luminous moonlight.  Yes, He made everything for us from the amazingly tiniest organism to the largest ever created.

But because of the bestowed gift of  innate ingenuity, we, humans, do constantly seek for answers, unravel the complexities of life’s enigma,  hypothesize, and then experiment for a more concrete proof until an invention is born. We take strides at greater lengths to attain new developments as new technologies, gigantic infrastructures, highly powered plants, industrial establishments and other modern stuff. We have not ceased being scientifically inquisitive and creative because we are naturally curious, naturally ambitious but incredibly discontented.

But let me help you discern the difference.

Close your eyes and imagine living a life with only the rustling of leaves, soft whisper of the gentle breeze, the clashing of waves ashore, the sweet chirping of birds as they fly high, and the velvety voice of our nature we can hear. Aren’t all these music to your ears?

Or is music to you the bustling cities with deafening honks and screeching tires from many cars jam-packing the suffocating streets? Or the hurried footsteps from preoccupied crowd? Or the tinkling of bottles, roaring laughter of drinkers and disco-goers as they dance to the tune of loud boom from speakers at the bars each night? Or is music to you the harsh blow of smoke from various flourishing factories rampant today?

Does the world change for the better? Or are the changes only aimed for to satiate our infinite cravings for modernity?

The choice is in our hands and mine is to live a life with music softly humming to my ears.

Let us save our Mother Earth before it is way too late because once in our limited span of life, we lived in a paradise.

  3. Hey Jinny, I came to give you some pinpoints on how to change your blog name etc, but I guess you did that already (and the new name is extremely profound I must say) But this also means that I am late, sorry, I just logged onto wordpress to accept my comments, firstly thank you ever so much for your kind comments and secondly I hope that next time I’ll be a flash to the rescue whenever you need some directions!!

You talk about the beauty of nature, your lines ring with passion to live and suffice with what life has for us, to live without causing disturbance, peacefully. I agree with you on our need to feed the scientific curiosities within us and from this door we excel to discover and invent. But I also agree with you, that we’re indeed going too far, submerging our souls in materialism in the name of curiosity and competence, we’re doing the wrong things to feed materialistic desires that are bound to grow infinitely in this constantly changing world, it is getting out of hand and we need to close our eyes to feel and sense, not close our eyes from the truth but momentarily to be able to grasp and regain our conscious thoughts, something that people are drifting very much away of now.
You should read The Revenge of Gaia, such a beautiful book, about mother earth fighting back, and even though it is thought of as a theory, I believe it to be more than that, mother earth is enduring a lot of disturbance in the name of modernity, and one day it will fight back.
Excellent post, you’ve got a wide array of enriched opinions and profound thoughts!

  4. Hello Batty!!! :)
I want you to know that it is okay. It really is okay.:) and the fact that you were planning to give me some pinpoints is enough for me and I thank you for that. :)
And Batty girl, you are very much welcome. Really, the first time I read your posts, I could not help feeling that envy, heheh, because you really are a great writer. I love your choice of words, the way you create poems, your “about me” and everything. It is not just that I am kind but it really is the truth. You really are one of those I want to be like..:)

and How can I thank you for all your super nice comments…No words can express how grateful I am to you for giving time to read my posts. You know what? This piece took me almost a day to finish because I had hard time coming up with appropriate words, the correct grammar, etc. I was even actually hesitant to publish it, afraid someone might notice the wrongs in every line. I even asked “Selboy” here to correct my English (LOL! because I am not an English major grad or anything related to it;).But even with that apprehension, I finally took the risk and said to myself, “Why not?”. So there, posted and again, thanks for the appreciation.:)

and What really drove me to write this? It was during one of those swims I had with my mama and my aunt. Then there was that moment I was looking up in the sky, admiring its blueness, the clouds and then when I looked around, the sea, its peacefulness…and asked myself, “why do they prefer, why do they want to live in a city? I just can’t get it. But I think it’s because of the modern stuff it can offer..I still don’t get it…Anyways, to be honest, it is so rare of me to do just that, to feel and see the beauty of the world. I know I do sound a bit poetic, hehe, but that “rareness” made me feel and see that the world is indeed so beautiful but at the same time, made me realize how much we’ve lost…

and Thanks again batty, I’d love to read that book but it might be impossible for me to have a copy of it as soon as possible.. :( We don’t have a bookstore here in our place.hehehe. the nearest one is more or less a 6-hour drive.hehe.Oh! our place is not a remote area. It’s just that we don’t have malls here..things like that..small town:) defensive..hehehe
